This is the most fascinating
fact of life in the universe.
How
do we see things?
When
a
beam of light falls on object from the sun or from any other light source,
it gets reflected. The reflected light reaches our eyes and our brain interprets the object. Finally, we are able to see objects around. As the speed of light is very high which is
3,00,000 km/sec, we do not feel any delay. We can't notice that timegap.
But when you look at all those stars
sky, light from those stars that is falling on your eyes started from those
stars some thousands and millions of years ago before even we were born. That
light has been travelling for millions of years to reach your eyes and now you
are seeing it. So there is a time delay of millions of years. So when you go
and look at the night sky, all of those stars belong to the past. You are
looking into the past. Most of the stars might have died already. Night sky is
a window into the past. It is like travelling in time. I look up everyday into
the night sky. That is awe and wonder.
Go
and look at those stars now. That is all past.
