What is Artificial Intelligence - AI?

After receiving many requests to write on Artificial Intelligence (AI), I will be writing a  series of interesting articles in the next few days on AI. Stay tuned. Please read and share. Many people confusing AI with a technology. It is not a technology, it is intelligence by itself like human intelligence. To understand, we have to know how human intelligence evoloved in this universe.

How Life started in this Universe? 

According scientists, our universe began 13.8 billion years ago with a big bang explosion  and formed Hydrogen gas. Eventually stars were formed out of hydrogen gas and inside of those stars, elements like Oxygen, Nitrogen, Calcium, Carbon etc formed. And those stars exploded forming planets and life. That's why earth and other planets have the same elements of stars.

How Life started in this Universe? Earth formed around 4 billion years ago. And first molecules on earth came together to form amino acids which formed singled cells. These single cells replicated themselves into multicellular organisms to fish and to ultimately humans over 4 billions years.

Evolution of Human Intelligence As the life evolved on earth into various forms, apes appeared few millions yeas ago which evolved into humans. But amazingly our brain size increased during human evolution which lead to increased levels of intelligence. Early hominin species (our ancestors 10 million years ago) started making simple tools, weapons to kill animals and eventually invented fire. 99% of human brain is similar to other apes. We share 98% of DNA with chimpanzees. Just that 2% makes a lot of difference and we now dominate the planet and going into space.

Evolution of Machine Intelligence or Artificial Intelligence (AI)As the human evolved, they started to automate their labor by using machines. Hand pumps were invented to draw water from a well. We invented calculator to calculate for us. We invented a computer which automates human thinking. If I ask you how to go a particular place, your brain retreives information from stored memory. Similarly a computer goes and retrieves information from storage devices using processor, internet etc.. Intelligence started to evolve. It's artificial intellgience. It's life 2.0.
